Cape Fear
In both films "Vertigo" and "Cape Fear" a HOMAGE is used by the directors. A homage is an allusion or imitation by one artist to another. it is a respectful imitation of the work of another director , as a way of paying tribute to an another director or movie.
Martin Scorsese and De Niro (made the film Cape Fear) both decided that they wanted their version of Cape Fear to be a conscious homage to Hitchcock's Vertigo film. For example the effect of eyes in both opening sequences and the colour red in both opening sequences too.
